Online casino rules in BC

In British Columbia, online gambling is run by the province through BCLC, on PlayNow.com. The paid link on this site's home page, marked Ad, leads to a private online casino instead, not to PlayNow.com.

What BC law allows

In British Columbia, gambling is legal only when the provincial government runs it. BCLC, a Crown corporation, runs all commercial gambling in the province, including online. Casino floors and online play both fall under that one corporation.

PlayNow.com, run by BCLC, is the only legal online gambling site in B.C. A website run by anyone else falls outside that rule. The minimum gambling age in BC is 19. It is the same for casinos and for online gambling.

The provincial gambling regulator in BC is the Independent Gambling Control Office, or IGCO. It has held that role since April 13, 2026. On August 28, 2026, the IGCO said PlayNow.com is the only regulated commercial online gambling site permitted to operate in BC. The same statement added that other online gambling sites accepting BC players operate illegally in BC.

The paid link on this site

This site is an independent guide, not a casino: it takes no bets and has no accounts. Only its home page carries paid links, marked Ad. There is one in the menu, one in a block just below the first screen and one near the end. All three lead to the same private online casino partner. That partner is not PlayNow.com, and it is not run or licensed by the province.

The site earns a commission from that partner, and the partner can change. BCLC's GameBreak self-exclusion program covers casinos, community gaming centres and PlayNow.com. It does not cover private online sites, including the one behind the Ad link. Gambling Support BC offers free help 24/7 at 1-888-795-6111 and at gamblingsupportbc.ca.
